I will be there this weekend with Denise. I am excited about it. Trico's or no Trico's.

Which makes me think of something I have been telling people for years and no one ever pays any attention to.

Around 1982,3,4 or there abouts I was fishing above the town of Westerly or poking around perhaps as I am wont to do and I stopped at a little bakery just over the bridge between Westerly and Pawcatuck, the bridge north of the towns.

I got my doughnut and coffee and walked out on the bridge and looked down into the river there just above the broken dam and what do you think I saw?

It was around the fifteenth of October. That date sticks in my mind.

I saw Trico's by the zillions, rafts of them clumps of them and the air was shimmering with them.

There were fish rising as far as i could see and then I looked down and realized that these fish were very big fish. Some were thirty inches or better and they were trout. Lots of them.

This pool is the first pool above the old dam pool and just below this place the water is tidal.

Yup..

Sea runs gorging themselves on Trico's.

Only one person I have told has gone there in all these years and he caught several trout over three pounds but not one of The larger ones that were there in abundance.

The salt has kept me busy since then but perhaps this year is my year to give it a try.

Both Conn. and RI have been stocking this river with sea runs again and ...
I wonder if fall run Atlantic's like Trico's?
