They just keep stocking the arcadia portion of the trout unlimited section of the wood river. Maybe if TU adopted the Blackstome as home water it would get more attention. It is a better river to fish in for sure but little rivers are the focus of our states stocking and river enhancment programs.
Maybe someday they will realize the potential of the Blackstone but for now the disdain for the river's past abuse and polluted history is too strong.
They still think of it as an open sewer hoperully that will change over the coming decades.
It is a beautiful river adn wonderful to fish. IT has eveything going for it in terms of water and current and accessability - except care.
It is big water and freestone and a terrific river to fish especially in winter when it stays cold.
A few less dams would help.
Maybe that is all they do now a days.
