Well Mark, There are less and less of them now.
Less shops, less fly fishermen fishing, less people coming into the sport, more people leaving, And there are more products and more lines and more this and that's and do-hickeys and more magazines and more writer experts. All this while the sport is losing participants like water going down the drain.
And the ranks of spin fishermen have swelled due to the dysfunctional methodology of the main line marketing approach to salt water fly fishing.
Casting a little jig 100'is easier with a spinning rod than with a a 10 wt. underlined broomstick that costs 700 dollars. - at least that is what the spin guys say.
The sad part is they keep doing it the same way and are waiting for a renewal of interest that is not going to come as long as they will not listen to the people who trully do fish.

That is not going to happen until they go bankrupt.
