This could probably be posted on the fly casting board as well but I can't help but wonder if anyone of you have ever 'damaged' rod by overlining (or i guess more correctly lining a rod with a line signifcantly above it's suggested grain rating). I like to use an 8 for heavyly weighted nymphs on 6 (and in that case i'm not even fishing the whole thirty feet must of the time) and I use an outbound 9 on a 9. I get some variance by function. It's going up 3-5 sizes that would make me a little nervous. So tell me I'm crazy, that that kind of load is never gonna snap a rod or tell me a horror story about snapping one.
