I do have an idea. It cannot be because they do not know how to think. They are alive on the planet and have been successful in thinking in the past so that cannot be it.

It must be something else.

This is what I think it is.

The group they belong to does not accept grain weight as the reason rods cast. If they disagree or question that tenent of membership then the leader of their group will ridicule them and they may lose status in their group.

They will be cut off.
That ain't gonna happen.

So they will not risk it but if that leader has a revelation that it is grain weight that loads a rod easier than acceleration then they will all say they knew it all along.



They will all wear - grain weight forever - smiley face patches.
