Good point, good book, thanks for reminding me that its in my bookcase.
From what Ive seen a mediocer caster who's a good fishermen will beat the reverse most of the time and most of the time hold his own with good casters and good fishermen. Its that odd time or place that often helps good casters, but then what is a good caster?
I recently went boenfishing in Andros, one day a guide put us on decent sized fish and had us casting as close as we could to them, our casts were either too far away, "closer Mon you got to get it closer to these big fish" or landed so close that "Hey Mon youre spooking the fish". I couldnt seem to get it right and in his eyes I am sure i wasnt much of a caster, finally on one fish I led it by 10 ft. or so and John the guide nearly had a fit,the fish came over and picked up the fly and I was told lucky fish. I didnt want to tell him that I did this deliberately as my cast was not calibrated to the 6" zone that he was proscribing.
