On the introduction of a new caliber rifle for the army. IT looks like a M16 and is very much the same gun in design but it has a new higher caliber bullet. The reason for this is that the standard bullet although it is very accurate and extremely fast does not have the mass to knock down a target but only to pass through it. It does not have the force to generate the foot pounds nee ed to put down the target because of the lack of mass in the small diameter bullet. High bullet speed does not do the work so they are replacing it with a higher mass bullet that will get the job done with a bigger bullet at a slower muzzle velocity.

They are increasing the grain weight to get the job done.

Now there is an idea whose time has come!
