Funny but all we used were six weights and less and we never had any problems. Of course there was no marketing hype back then so we just didn't know that we could not fish for stripers with trout sized rods like D's and C's but we never used B's as they were a little heavy. That is a seven weight in the number system. There were no nine weight pool cues pretending to be fly rods back then. How sweet it was - and still is for some. Fun and grace is also a big part of striper fishing as many folks are finding out on their own over time. There is a lot more to enjoy in it than blitz fishing - if you want there to be more to it than blitz fishing that is. Everyone likes what they like. It is all good.
