The Orvis mid flex models are fairly soft rods. The tip flex tells you what your getting. The z axis I tried wasnt what I would call extra fast, not soft but not harsh. The TCr is advertised as such so you know what your getting with it..The Sage sw rods are made to hold up to heavy demands and Id rate them good boat rods.Id dont think theyre telephone poles.Loomis is offering the classic glx and the cc glx. Both are casting tools. The cc is a good boat rod the old glx belongs on the beach. The 8 wt.in both models are fairly flexible. The 9s stiff and the 10s more so.Loomis also has a host other lines out that I cant keep track of. The fact is that there are choices maybe not to your liking but they are there.

I have an old 7/8 daiwa that youd like. Cost me $50 and bends like a noodle. I bought it 15 years ago and put a 9wt. line on it.. It caught fish..
