Paul, take a look at my response to your post on the main board. I agree with Miker's post on this board; the bonefishing in February is iffy at best, although I've tried it several times. It is very dependent on the weather and water temperature.
I do recommend that, if you go in January, you do so out of Key Biscayne. I had bonefish with Bob Branham there last December on a day when the ambient air temperature at the dock (Crandon Marina) was 44 degrees. I fished out of Big Pine Key two days later and saw no bones, although we did have good fishing for Jack Crevalle. It was the opinion of both guides (Bob Branham and, at Big Pine, Rich Keating)that the Key Biscayne area is more productive for bonefish in cold weather because of its proximity to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. If anyone else has a view on this I'd be interested in hearing it.
IMHO, January and February are not prime fly fishing times in the Fort Lauderdale area. I'd be interested in contrary views on that as well. However, there's still good fishing to be found. Check out the sources I mentioned in my Main Board post. Dave
