The winter months in the tropics can definitely be "iffy". Cold fronts can appear at any time and put the "mockers" on bonfishing - but - on the good days your chances of connecting with the fish of a lifetime increase exponentially. You probably won't see the huge schools of 100+ fish where the average duffer can land his crazy charlie in the general area and either hook-up or spook the entire school 20 times a day. But the odd fish you do encounter will be on the larger side. If you are going to be down there, take your gear and call a few local tackle shops/guides to get a sense for what's going on.
