I have several friends who use six weight from Beans in the salt and love them. They cast nine weight lines on them with excellent results. IF you buy a nine weight salt water rod you may need a 12 wt line to make it sing. Try an 8 line on your five weight aans see how it casts. You may not need to buy a new rod at all. Most labeled nine weights are pool cue clubs.
