I've tied a few flies to ride hook point up tying bendback style, with the materials on the bottom of the shank. I tied the featherwing facing the hookeye (away from the hookpoint). The water sweeps back the wing. Its not a flatwing per se but its a wing and the fly rides hookpoint up. I think the bendback and hookpoint up style of flies have their own special attractive movement.
