Ah, Gurgler Foam, on a Flat-Wing site could be a sticky proposition! I tie all types of flies & I like gurglers alot. In Fresh & saltwater it is best to use closed cell foam.at least 1/8" thick. sometimes the 1/8" material can be found at craft stores like AC Moore or Wally World, You can also try Jack Gartsides site and order the real Macoy from him.If you are desperate and have some 1/2" thick foam you can also slice it thinner with a sharp knife. The stuff at the craft store Brand name is called 'Foamies' comes in various colors, it is 2mm thick (good thickness for FW bugs) it can be stacked and glued together to get it to 1/8" The Foamie foam also comes in shaped pieces it is thicker and still good for gurglers~there is also the lowly beach sandal foam if you are really crafty. Hope this helps...
