Subject: Re: The Principles of Casting Floating & Intermediate Fly Line

I sure do get a lot of differing opinions on fly casting. In my practice casting I was coming to a sudden stop at the end of each cast.It seemed like about 10 minutes of practice was all I could stand . My arm and shoulder would be worn out.a certified FF fly cast instructor told me not to come to a sudden stop.He said It was suposed to be a smooth application of power, not a sudden stop.Well this helped my fatige a lot, but my casting realy has suffered .
Where is my elbo supposed to be during the cast. At my side are elevated a little.I tried at my side like I see ppl doing on TV but cat only cast about 30 feet that way.I can raise my elbow up almost level with my shoulder and cast well over 50, but its not real pretty casting. And sometime I end up with knots in my leader.I guess I need to break down and hire an instructor.
