Casting to a Blitz

Subject: Casting to a Blitz

Fished a Blitz the other day and I found myself false casting too much. Had a sinker on because of the wind ect. Wrong decision as I should have used a floater or Intermediate.
I've noticed that Atlantic Salmon fly casters do very little false casting. Any suggestions as to eliminate my false casting? My rod and line are balanced. Thanks for your input.
