Lots of using our Yaks in open water or areas were the big boats (bigger than us) navigate. I noticed that many of the Kayaks available today have Sportsman packages for fishing and sometimes Hunting. many of these yaks are earth tones in sands and greens. Be very aware how hard these colors are to see in open water. Blue is another problem. Iwatched a group of yakers touring together last summer and you could see 2 boats until they got much closer and there was a blue one and 2 green ones with the yellow and red Kayaks. I know some are concerned with stealth. Myself... I am concerned with something with a fast propeller running over me!

If your Yak is not a obnoxious color that can be seen for great distances you should make sure you are seen. A bright PFD, is a big help. Also consider a paddle with yellow ends so you can signal with it.

We have big water around here so be carefull.

I how to see you (pun intended) on the water this summer!
