There are a bunch of guys here who do a lot of fly fishing from kayaks. I'm surprised none of them have answered you.

I'm not one of them, but I do occationally fish from a yak with spinning gear.

You should always pay attention to current no matter how light it is. I garauntee you the fish are.

The biggest problem I encountered when I went to the kayak from the shore was how to control a drifted presentation from a platform that was moving along with the drift. I was used to standing on the shore and guiding my ofering from my fixed position.

The way I worked around that was to equate it to my experience boat fishing. But, using the stealth of the kayak to my advantage and drifting it much closer to my targeted area. Everything in my presentation came a lot closer. I could really target fish that I was drifting directly over. That was definately an advantage. Anchoring is always an option too, just don't set the hook in fast moving water. That's asking for trouble.

That boundary between faster moving water and slower moving water is a great place to look. It's the first place fish will move to whan the water starts moving. When it starts to move even faster the fish will settle into holds and typically move much shorter distances in the horizontal to intercept food. But the faster the water, the greater the distance they are typically willing to rise to intercept it. So, drifiting over thier heads becomes very effective.

I hope one of the more experienced yak fishers here chimes in. I'd be interested to hear what they have to say too.
