Just saw this and I do have some thoughts on presnting a fly in curent from a kayak. Merch makes some excellent points.
Controling the drift is MUCH easier from shore since when a kayak is moving in current, chances are the speed and direction of the yak will be different from those conditions where you want your fly to be working. Factor in the effect of wind and it can be very frustrating. I have "sort of" figured out a way to control the drift with one arm on the paddle and the other on the rod - but its tough. If the current isn't too strong, a drift sock is a great accessory for keeping the yak tracking straight. Last but not least is anchoring up but I wouldn't recommend it in even moderately strong currents. My yak becomes surprisingly unstable when being hit by current from behind so I pick my spots with care.
