At 425 grains an 11 weight RIO Outbound is just shy of a 13 weight line with a minimum of 435 grains. This means you can load the rod similarly with a standard 13 weight WF line.
I also suspect that the next size up (12) outbound or 14 wt WF line will load that rod even better. Seeing as the rod still didn't want to flex unless we put some serious muscle into it with the lines we had.
I notice with all of my rods they load easiest with 3-5 size heavier lines. More often then not it is closer to 5 sizes heavier. My three primary rods which are: a three a 6 weight line, a six that uses a 10 or 11 weight line, and an eight that uses a 12 weight line. They are all soft moderate beginner type rods. I traded off all my stiff higher weight rods. All cast a team of flies with a flick of the wrist where I want them, whether it be 10 feet or 70-80 feet or more. Don't get me wrong they still cast 3-5 sizes lighter than the label too. They just require a bit more effort to accomplish it.
