Subject: Stripping in a floating line

First time with the floating line yesterday. I had every intention of dead drifting and mending, but it soon became clear that the masses of schoolies that were there throughout the day wanted the fly swinging across the current or stripped in. I'd say maybe 10% or less of the fish I landed took the dead drift.

So, I ended up just casting, doing a single mend (to practice, and give the fly time to sink a bit) then stripping in.

Question: do you all often find yourself chucking and stripping with a floating line? It sure worked with aggressive schoolies yesterday.
