A five weight is an eight weight in most modern rods.
I have a six wt. that takes an eleven perfectly!
This all started when they started to use the, "Improved," graphite and forgot how to balance rods. The engineer tech heads became the rod designers instead of fishermen.
Rod design is an art - not engineering science.
