Well, I know you'er going to have a better method but, you've got to remember before here, all my ideas were from trial and error. Borrowing a "count down method" from the trouties has helped. Fan fish to find bottom depth in a few areas and count to bottom. If the count is 10,, I start "working" the bug/fly at 8, 7, 6 or what ever depending on a intuitive notion. If there is a change in current speed, up, over, and down a structure, I'll "work" my bug accordingly. For me,, (at this point) it's purely intuitive conjecture. Can I say with certainly that I'm 8 1/4" from the bottom? No. Is it perfect? no. Is it productive? Often enough to be better than nothing. And for me at this point, it's doable. The first time to a spot this can be clumbsy,,, by the 2nd or 3rd the mental notes on "hangs" (structure)can offer better drifts. (kind of a mental Topo Map)
Okay, good topic. Hope you have a better way that you'll share when you're ready.
