Every point you make is true. Still - you can cast further with more mass even with the air resistance. You can cast into a 35 knot wind with an 11 wt floating line easily on a rod that it balances. You can cast an 11 weight sinking line easily into that same wind and it will cut through the wind at a faster speed.
You will break your arm trying to cast an 11 weight label rod with that same 11 weight line with high line speed.
So what it comes down to is both will work adn get the line weight in the sinking ine that you would with the floater (at leat three line weight hearvier) and you will be very happy.
Byethe way thanks for the heads up about this topic on the other boards. For many years talking about this topic was only done on this site along with many other topics that are only now becoming conscious choices because people are no longer accepting the stupid marketing jargon that only works perfectly sales wise when people are being told what to think.
