If you contact Airflo, and describe the situation I bet that they would be willing to let you keep the sections of flyline in exchange for them keeping a customer. Then you could chop up the sinking portion for some great sink tips (they make thin diameter/high density sinking lines pretty well), and you could turn the running line around and use it to connect to other shooting heads. Then again I always have more line projects planned than I'll ever have time to fish, so you could just get a Rio DC _____gr. 24'Sink Tip, or appropriate grain weight Rio Leviathan, and because of the way that they taper up to about 7' of body before transitioning to the sinking portion of the head they avoid the cracking/breaking pitfall. I've had great experience with the Rio equivalent lines in terms of durability, even in the hands of many novice anglers that allowed the line to get wrapped around quite a few barnacle covered boulders.
