Subject: Some intermediate fun

I have been in a fun debate with some fellows on a different site about intermediate lines. It is all about the getting under the waves where the fish are, right?

Just figured I was repost here for some fun.

"I bought into the intermediate line crowd before I had any idea what I was doing. 'It gets below the waves, right?' No matter how slow I fished the fly stayed just a foot or two under the surface. I tried using it on a jetty couldn't keep contact and ended up having the waves wash my line into a pocket in the rocks of the jetty. I ended up losing 20 feet off the tip of my brand new line 20 minutes after its first cast. Fortunately the line stayed just deep enough that I couldn't pick it up and keep it out of the jetty.

Funny, I can fish deeper with a floater and a single splitshot than I could with the intermediate.

Even with the so called 'belly' with the floater I can feel every tick and bump everytime the fly rubs something.

Ever watch a baitfish in the surf? They are affected by the waves too."
