I understand you perfectly Mr. Quiet man.
Believe it or not I also agree with you. The funny thing is... I care about people enjoying the sport a great deal and I find lots of people who will never know what you are talking about when you say you change lines to fit situations.
I meet them all the time.
They actually do not know that there are situations that call for different lines. They have been told that the intermediate is the basic line.
That is not true in any type of fly fishing - as all types of sinking lines were developed as specialty lines and that is not my opinion - but the fact of the matter.
Floating lines are the standard basic line and always have been and when they cannot do the deed then specialty lines come to the fore.
You know that and lots of fly fishermen with broad fly fishing experience know that but many salt water fellows have no idea of that as they came to the sport through spinning and sales clerks.
It is like they are hobbled and handicapped in presentation and do not know that they are and keep casting and stripping until they are defeated.
I hate seeing that happen to good people who love fly fishing when it is so unnecessary and senseless.
