I'm not sure how far west in Ct. your fishing but if its any of the same salt ponds / outflows that I fish try a VERY small VERY sparse ray's marabou sand eel fly (i add/tie in a short but full platform of bucktail to help keep the wing from fouling). If there is current you can drift it if there is no current use the dreaded under arm strip. Key is small & sparse on a light wire hook to keep it up in the column- .75 inch & very sparse. If its light out I'll add 1 wisp of pink marabou to the wing. I've also found that when the fish are on top 1 fly instead of 3 fishes closer to the surface. I have not resorted to a cork yet but I'm sure that would work even better.
