ACTION ALERT: Protect Striped Bass in the EEZ
Submit Comments Through May 24

For over 20 years, recreational anglers have sacrificed and accepted,
even advocated, regulations to restore and protect the striped bass
population, including a moratorium. Another of those regulations has
been the closure of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ/3-200 miles
offshore) to the possession of striped bass by both recreational and
commercial fishermen. Pressure from mostly commercial interests has
prompted the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission to ask the
National Marine Fisheries Service to seek public comment on opening
the EEZ. The EEZ is a refuge for larger striped bass that are vital to the
future of the fishery. There is already evidence that fishing mortality on
large striped bass is dangerously high. Now is not the time to increase
the fishing pressure on these large fish.

Click here (see URL link) to read the Action Alert, which includes
instructions on submitting comments and more background, including
CCA's talking points.
