Subject: Kickemuit fish ladder opens

Found a projo article about the new Kickemuit Reservoir fish ladder. I was wondering though, is it necessary to transfer herring into the pond or is it likely that the herring that normally run into the other creeks up the Kicky might try this new estuary? I always see herring approaching all kinds of different areas that aren’t necessarily access to spawning grounds but I don’t know a whole lot about them. I thought it might kind of be like the Omega pond herring. They gather around the dam and can’t find a way up, but if you open the gates they would probably go flooding in. Haven’t ever checked to see if herring gathered at the base of the Kicky Reservoir dam in the past, but it’s possible I suppose that they might do the same thing. I’ll have to check it out. Maybe someone could enlighten me on this topic.
