Speaking of catch and release, read the article linked above at MSNBC.
It is a travel advertisment more than an article, but note the qoute
about half way down:
"Fly-fishing is primarily catch-and-release, which means that the fish
is immediately released back into the water after it is caught," says
John Randolph, editor and publisher of Fly Fisherman magazine.

I beleive that as long as some well heeled folks are willing to pay
several thousand dollars for a few days of catch and release PETA
doesn't stand a chance of getting C&R banned - too many dollars at
play. A few well funded lawyers could squash PETA blind folded. So far
PETA has been so far on the fringe that good highly paid lawyers
haven't bothered taking them on. If they go after lively hoods and
recreational venues of the well off, they may find that the story
changes.
The PETA pamphlet has been out a few years and it has not stopped
anyone from fishing down in this neck of the woods - increased license
fees on the other hand is a different story, but that is a different topic.

My two cents,
Paul M.
