Subject: Re: Fishing in the salt ponds

In the sixties Great Salt Pond (point Judith pond)started producing bug fish in late March and stayed good through the Moon in June. Quanny started soon after. Pleasant Bay on the cape was about a week after Point Judith Pond. The inlet has changed since then and it no longer fishes the same but perhaps those fish still come. The Pawcatuck river just below Westerly starts early also. The narrow river has resident fish and early fish. Mount hope bay and the lee's river and the Cole river have very early fish and the barrington river above the White church bridge has early fish. There are fish in the Seekonk river in Providence and there is a good herring run at omega pond. The small bass hit the west wall and Carpenters in the middle of AApril and carpenters is usually good by the 20th of April or a bit later.
Every year is different and last year lots of the early spots that have produced all my life even in the bad times did not have fish at all all year.
I hope those schools are not totally wiped out and this year sees them return.
