Cormorants showed up yesterday on eastern LI. Is it a coincidence it's a new moon? Alewives have been around for a while. The cormorants might have showed up because the alewives are leaving. Certainly, they know something we don't but can. Saw large schools of adult menhaden on Friday evening.
