I love mole crabs.

I don't know if there is some "device" that can help you to gather a bunch, but I know how to do it the old fashioned way.

Mole crabs will bury themselves right at the surf line on the beach. The best way to get them (in my experience) is to jam your hand in the sand and start digging fast. They are usually within the first few inches of sand. As you move youre fingers through you can feel them (like little stones). As soon as you bump one, get your fingers under him and flick him up out of the sand quickly. Once you get a visual, grab him up quickly because as soon as he hits the sand again he'll disappear in the blink of an eye.

Lots of them at night. It's a great thing to take a kid with you to do too. It's fun.

In the past, I've taken several at a time and stacked them on a hook and caught "things" in the surf. Don't do it much anymore but maybe I'll try again this year.
