I remember once upon a time when I felt I needed to "Kill," a Mako. I did. Then I cleaned it (tastes like swordfish) and my hands burned from the ammonia in their muscles. They were red and raw and burned - not - mildly reddened.
They do not have a bladder and store their waste in their flesh. It did not taste like swordfish to me after that.
I think that Bill is trying to finish something that was not completed and used the word killed because that fish was lost while they were trying to land it in a tournament. Unfinished business as he is trying to get the question of what went wrong answered.
Take it easy on him he is a good fisherman who has let at least three fifty pounders go that I know of and many more fish in that size range in addition. He fights for conservation issues in the front lines. Just my opinion. Pretty straightforward guy but not a PC language addict.
