Dinks as well as keepers are very easy to land on a three weight as long as you have figured out how to fight them.
Last year there was a night where I stood toe to toe next to a fellow fly angler catching dinks. He laughed at me cause I had what looked to be "about a six weight" in his humble opinion and would never be able to land fish in reasonable amount of time with it. Needless to say that night it took me less than half the time to land my fish with my three weight than it took him on his "adequate nine weight with lots of backbone". I never said a word, just smiled and nodded my head.
I didn't catch any more than he did. I just proved to myself that it is all about learning the rods real limitations (not the perceived ones)and developing the skills to use them.
