Ihave in the past. THey are somewhere on the tying board. My first attempts were small bi- visibles with the top and bottom clipped off and then shape the sides.
Like I said, it is best to use a net and catch some for yourself. I have also caught them on caddis pupa and small tan nymphs and other things to numerous to mention. THe leader has to be small enough to fit through the eye of the hook.
4X 5X works fine. 16 pound is like a telephone pole.
Like I said trout gear and do not be afraid because anyone can do it. Droppers increase your chances and watch that leader! Strike indicators work well too.
