You really need to catch some of these little crabs to appreciate what they really are. The patterns for them are endless once you see what they look like.

Just implying what they might look like doesn't cut it.

Get the finest mesh net you can find and hold it in the current where you don't think there is anything alive drifting through. If you can't feel heavy resistance when you swat the net through the air, the mesh is too large.

I tied up a bunch of flies thinking what these things may have looked like. When I was finally able to catch and see one up close my flies wheren't even close in size, color, or shape.

They do look like translucent little ticks.
