I got myself a new flyrod
earlier this week
I couldn't wait to use it
to catch that bass I'd keep
This rod is just amazing
I didn't think I'd see
All that much difference in this or that,
with my lack of expertise
But I have to say
My new Salmo Saxatillis #3
is everything and even more
than it's supposed to be
It's lightweight and it's flexible
I can't believe what it can do
It loaded up and shot that line
The distances I threw!
This new rod...is to my others
as Monet is to...
The guy that paints dogs playing cards
( yeah, you know him too.)
I couldn't wait to show it off
at the beach all afternoon
Then at last this rod brought in
it's very first big ole bass
through the seapowet grass
late last night
under the shadow of a waxing moon
just as it was meant to do
( of course it had a little help from a
shrimp GP fly or two)
so

For the instrument you've made
It plays such soulful music
