Greg,
I wish you had posted about two months ago. I was in the Norfolk area for school during the summer and would have enjoyed exploring. I notice from your post address that you are on NMCI so you must be in the Navy. I am in the Navy up in Annapolis, MD. The Chesapeake is a good place to fish, but not as easy as up in RI. When I was down in Norfolk I looked hard for shore fishing access and did not find a lot. Most bridges, bulkheads and piers are either closed to fishing, private property or shut down at dusk. There are some beach opportunities in several places, but I did not give it a try. Here is a website of a group of fisherman you probably want to get in touch with - the Tidewater Kayakers Angling Association (TKAA). I met a few at a fly tying event up this way and I know several of them fly fish. They may be able to point you to some good shore locations. Winter fishing from a boat or kayak is exceptional for Stripers around the bridge/tunnels especially at night. http://www.tkaa.org/ If you ever get up this way, put a post on the main board or here on connections. Fall and spring fishing is good here in a few places where you can get access. Good luck, Paul M.
