If they are there they are feeding and if they are feeding they are active. I have caught fish in the dead of winter on the surface feeding in current at night and I am not the only one who has and it is normal behavior. I am sure that water temperature is a great barrier to our minds that prevents us from going fishing and not finding out that the fish do feed in ways that we would never be able to imagine unless we went fishing when we were told 'not' to and found out for ourselves that fish things that do not make sense until we see what they do and have to expand our ideas to include what we have seen for ourselves. The two key factors in understanding water temperature and it's effect on fishing is the presence of fish and bait and there is a third factor. If you have both fish and bait then patience and being there becomes the active force in catching them. If your ideas prevent you from going then you will not ever find out the answers that your mind cannot agree with or imagine.
