There is a krill shrimp called the Horned Krill Shrimp that is found along the shore in summer to early fall in the Bay of Funday. It strays south to the latitude of the Delaware Bay. It is thought to be the most common of the euphausiid species in the Gulf of Maine. Krill are the shrimp familiar to whalers and swarm in cold seas and turn the water into a pinkish hue. They are considered lower shrimps as they have at least six pairs of legs and none with pincers. This information was taken from The Peterson Field guide to the Atlantic Seashore number 24 by Kenneth L. Gosner. This field guide contains all the non-fish creatures along the Atlantic Shore including worms and crabs and tell where you can find them what they look like their spawning habits and much much more. It is a good source of real information that is valuable for fishermen who want to know what is actually happening rather than taking their information from hearsay and angler myths. Peterson's also publishes many other field guides and they are all very good. There is one on Atlantic Coast Fishes, number 32 and it is very good, and contains much about baitfish and treats them with as much attention to detail as anyone could hope for. It is a good source book for fishermen and much more informative than any of the very limited in scope, angler baitfish books that have been published to date. There is also a book called the Field Guide to Birds Number one by Roger Tory Peterson that is wonderfully informative about sea birds and gives much valuable information about them and their habits. These three field guides are in my opinion all that are necessary to be a well informed angler about the fish the bait and the birds, much better informed at this date than of those who get their information from the random interpretations of magazines and fly shops.
