The all time classic is Greased line fishing by Jock Scott. Dry line steelhead by Bill McMillan and The Soft Hackle fly by Sylvester Nemes for starters. Haig Brown is someone that you should read and these books are not the modern do this and do that type of "How to be a Fly Fishing Guru in twenty minutes for Dummies type of books." They are thoughtful and literate and well researched and do not claim anything more than they deliver but it does take some effort on the part of the reader to understand and visualize what these authors are sharing from a life time of fishing with the fly rod. There are some posts on the reviews board that give information on where to get them.
