Subject: Tiny Horseshoe crabs are about to make their appearance |
|
|
I read about a scientific report from a few years back that noted the stripers fed heavily on the young of the year horshoe crabs whenthey hatched and became abundant. THe tiny crabs are pale and whitish and are abot the size of dines all the way up to Half dollar size. They will be hatching soon if not already in your area. The Horseshoe crabs dig nests at the top of the high tide line and that is where the crabs come out when the tide covers them after they have hatched. It is an anmual event.
