Stainless TIG wire, it can be found in various diameters and lengths at body shops or any welding supply store, works great for long thru wire or smaller diameter stuff for smaller lures that you don’t want to weigh down. I was really thinking of a slow retrieve with some back drifting in the current but I found out sometimes even the most unimaginable techniques work well. If what you’re doing isn’t working, you have to try something else. I know the "The Billy Club” and saw it in action so I used it as a model (THANKS!) my pencil came out a little fatter. I left the plug unpainted because of the squid look of the wood and its knots. I’ve been making super sized lures and most of my bigger fish were caught on bigger lures, I have a top water swimmer made for fast water, a friend nicknamed the bowling pin.
