Top and bottom are cypress. Middle one is oak. I know cypress (dannies and atom 40's)will hold screws just fine, as does birch and maple (poppers, darters and needlefish). Since oak has a similar interlocking grain, my guess is that it will hold as well. Poplar needs to have the screw holes filled with Gorilla glue or some such thing to hold well.
