Yep that splice method is what I was going to reccomend.

Very strong and if done right there will be no hinging and it is just as strong as a straight line. If you really want to beef it up take a few inches of 30lb braided mono and slip it onto the running line before doing the splice. After the splice is done slide the mono braid over the splice so there is equal amount of braid on each side if the splice. Nail knot each end and trim the excess. Now you have the chinese finger lock effect helping strength things but alot of guys just do the splice and it holds just fine.

As for snowbee they also make my favorite spey rod as well. Good products that will not break the bank. Not well known on this side of the pond but the lines are something special. Ken has my 9wt line and give it a try next time to see him. You can get the lines online from their usa distributor.
