I am starting to really like Double Tapers. They don't shoot as well as a WF to gain distance, but for me they carry in the air better than a WF. Once they hit the water though they are pretty awesome. They mend and roll cast nicely and have a nice pick up off the water. I can actually fish them farther, by that I mean I can pick up more line up off the water and move it so I can control my fly farther away.
I also like them because they fit my style better. They have a nice slow fluid movement through the air and transfer energy from the rod tip through the line better.
Plus they are cheap compared to all the fancy WF lines!!!!!!
The only drawback is they need a really big reel to fit on. They take up a lot more reel space than a WF line does.
