Subject: Re: Fly line to backing |

I always am concerned that the thin backing will cut through the fly line with a loop. It never has happened to me but I use the albright and the double line for a knot because of that. I trust the extra bearing surface and the fact that the line does not tighten and loosen causing a shearing action.
I once broke a loop in a leader that had been passed through three or four tiems on a giant tuna. Too many twists under too much pressure. I makes a pretty knot but ...IT can break.
I make the loop real long so that if when I change the line I can have enough loop left to tie it again.
I do use loops all the time everywhere else except to backing and i think it is a good idea to use them.
I think I am stuck in a good routine. I may need liberating.
