Is that German stuff Tectan or some name similar to that? I know a fellow that swears by it for distance with his conventionals. Actually the canal is probebly easier than the RI rocky shore because RI has such a diversity of places the fish can rush to when you try to land them. At the canal we just have to conquer that "lip" down into the deeper dredged area..Very difficult to get a big fish up over it when break off if he takes you down...Just have to put it to him early and try to keep him moving your way in the current..sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.. Mostly doesn't work.. My biggest bit the jig on the retrieve for the next cast.. only 10 feet from shore...so she made it easy for me :-)
